‘Music’s Biggest Night’ all starts here… on the red carpet.

Today is the annual Grammy Awards (Fingers crossed for Ed Sheeran and Hunter Hayes! Third times the charm!) and so, it’s my annual red carpet fashion breakdown. Here we go…

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 6.45.25 PM It’s MADONNA. Who can critique the original Material Girl? My only question: why did Madge arrive so early into the red carpet show? She’s MADONNA.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.03.10 PM slide_398532_4967176_compressed Ariana Grande: let’s start with a compliment– her and Big Sean are so adorable (in this picture and on the carpet getting their pictures taken. #adorable). Now, her dress… I like the white part, gorgeous, except what is that silver “flap” on the dress??? It’s, like, a hot mess. Her stylist should have left it without out the silver part… the white is a classic, gorgeous. The silver is just a mess.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.03.25 PM Another adorable couple: Nick Jonas and his GF Olivia Culpo. My only question: why did Nick arrive so early into the red carpet show? He’s NICK JONAS. Oh, maybe because he’s not nominated, right?

slide_398532_4966998_compressed Kelly Osborne: edgy, couture, gorgeous.

slide_398532_4967206_compressed Jessie J: love this dress, it’s so gorgeous! However, I’m not a fan of that sheer overlay on her shoulders. It would’ve been absolutely impeccable as a strapless dress. But, I love it regardless.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.08.24 PM Blast from the ’00s past: Jess McCartney looks dapper in a green velvet suit… However, did something happen to his face? (uh oh, or is it just a lack of sleep?)

slide_398532_4967258_compressed Gwen Stefani looks edgy and perfection. Tailored to perfection, HOWEVER, not a fan of the MC Hammer-type pants. I would’ve preferred the pants to have been longer and straightened out. But for her: flawless.

rs_634x1024-150208162844-634-meghan-trainor-grammy-arrivals.jw.2815 Meghan Trainor looks gorge: this photo does not do her dress justice. Watching her E! interview: it’s impeccable.

rs_634x1024-150208161346-634.miranda-lambert-grammy-awards-020815 Miranda Lambert: first off, we share a name, so obviously she’s awesome. Second, I love her dress. It’s fun, edgy– perfect for the Grammys. Plus, that pop of pink is perfection. And her dress is tailored to perfection. Great job, Miranda, great job.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.42.11 PM I just had to add Ed Sheeran because, duh. I like how he wears suits and tuxes with sneakers: it just makes his fashion more his own personal style. And he rocks it.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.44.02 PM Sia and her mini-me Maddie Ziegler (from Dance Moms!) matching in well-tailored suits and giant, frizzed Chandelier wigs. As a Dance Moms fan, OMG that’s so huge for a little 12-year-old dancer, to walk the red carpet at the GRAMMYS, after starring a video that was NOMINATED; all that before age 13: wowza.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.58.11 PM Katy Perry in a Zuhair Muraid dress straight off the Paris Fashion Week runway… gorgeous. Love it. Her dress, hair: impeccable. However, I might chosen less strappy heels or lose the belt.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 7.58.22 PM Lady Gaga. Gorgeous, for once. This picture doesn’t do her dress justice.

slide_398532_4967624_compressed Kim Kardashian West: worst dressed of the night for me. It’s like a super sparkly robe… Also, where are her hands??? Lol. The one thing I like about this look: her hair. It’s gorge.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 8.06.14 PM Rihanna’s princess moment as she’s the very last person to arrive on the carpet. So pink and so fluffy.. “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!!!” — Sorry, I just couldn’t resist.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 8.02.40 PM ANNA KENDRICK. OH EM GEE, she looks AH-MAZING. Love it. Tailored to perfection, per usual. Hair, suit, everything is perfect. And I can’t wait to see “The Last Five Years” next weekend and hear the cast album Tuesday on iTunes!

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 8.05.50 PM T. Swizzle is gorgeous. Love her dress, shoes, jewelry and how the colors of all three look amazing together. Perfect, Taylor, just perfect.

Those are my best- and worst- looks of the 2015 Grammy Awards. Thoughts?

Let’s chat.

So, I haven’t written in awhile because of finals. But, I’m back no, don’t fret! Today, I thought I’d answer some random vlog-type questions on here.

  1. What is something you regret? Middle school, I think those years were for rough for everyone. Especially the fashion trends.
  2. What do you think of Toddlers & Tiaras? I love reality shows so I might not be the best person to answer.
  3. Have you ever met anyone famous? YES. Emma Roberts and I shot bows and arrows together while discussing books, Ed Sheeran rubbed my shoulder once, Sara Bareilles, many Gold Medal Olympians in ice skating and… that’s all I can think of right now, but I’m sure there’s more.
  4. If someone played a prank on you in the shower, and posted a video of it on the Internet without your permission, how would you feel? I’d not be happy. So, don’t even think about it.
  5. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4. Uhh, it’s a magazine: it’s an ad for Dillards.
  6. What is the last film you saw? Mockingjay. Wasn’t impressed.
  7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Everywhere! I’d pull a Shailene Woodley and travel nonstop!
  8. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy? Uhhh… shoes? clothes I pinned on Pinterest?
  9. Do you like to dance? YES. Solo dance parties are sometimes all you need.
  10. Are you listening to music right now? Yes. Pandora. No one needs to know what stations I listen to.
  11. What do you do most when you are bored? Blog, read, Netflix, dance it out.
  12. Are you a morning person or a night owl? MORNING. Like, I start yawning at 11 if I’m not headed for bed, truthfully.

Well, that should be enough for now. Back to studying!

Guess where I was last night???

That’s right. I saw the one-and-only ED SHEERAN, again. This time live in Charlotte, North Carolina; which happened to be the first time Sheeran had been.

First, we had to drive TWO HOURS from campus to see Ed. But, hello? It’s Ed. Worth it.

The first song was “I’m a Mess,” which I was pleasantly surprised he played! But, I loved it nonetheless.

After the song ended, he spoke in his British accent, “Sing along. And if you don’t know the words, make some up.” How great is that? He’s humble and just wants to put on a good show.

He goes into “Lego House” next, which I didn’t record because I saw him perform two years ago at a meet and greet back home. But, anyway, I haven’t heard him play in this big a venue, definitely louder. It was interesting to compare the venues with his setlist and performance vibe.

Next comes “Don’t,” mixed with “Girls Ain’t Loyal” and “No Diggity.” Loved his energy, per usual.

Next is “Drunk,” where he kept playing though the issues with his loop pedal, the only thing on stage with him and his guitar. This was followed up by “Take it Back,” a more rap song that I still enjoyed.

He discusses the distance travelled for all of us to get here. Two hour drive for me! He goes into “One!!”

He thanks his support act, UK’s own Rudimental, who I had never heard of before. And in between EACH song, he kept having to switch guitars because of how hard he plays it. Talk about dedication. Then he sings “Bloodstream,” followed by “Tenerife Sea,” nonetheless lovely. It was beautiful.

He sang “Runaway” next and included a super surprise cover that I won’t spoil, so just watch it! Hashtag, 90’s throwback!

Then, he told us the story of his girlfriend from high school and how they had a little chicken, who accidentally died under their watch. He added, “In memory of the little chicken,” and played “Little Bird.” Another old hit that I still adored.

He then explained how most people relate to “Afire Love” and told us to “resist the urge to yelp” during the song. Awww. Next, was my personal favorite: “Thinking Out Loud!!” (This was where my phone ran out of storage, ugh!)

He then went into “Give Me Love” and the crowd was silent, and that’s just how I like an Ed concert, where I can hear his talented vocals.

At 9:45, he said, “We’ve come to the end.” Sad face from me. He then played “I See Fire.” I loved it when the crowd was silent, so we could hear how AH-MAZING his vocal range truly is. Also, he had said his goal for the night was to have everyone lose their voice. Laughing out loud. Even though, at an Ed concert, it is pretty much inevitable.

Ed literally set his guitar down, waved to the crowd and exited the stage. But, then he was back a minute later for his three-song encore of “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You,” “A Team,” and, of course, “Sing.”

  1. “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You.” Loved it. And I literally could rap his entire song with him. And he beatboxed a little too. He even ad-libbed “since I went mainstream with A Team.” Ahh. Love it. He then took his usual Insta photo of the crowd. Sad face I wasn’t in the photo, again. But, oh well, because I was there, AGAIN. 🙂
  2. “A Team” was a beautiful ballad as per usual. And everyone lit up their iPhone flashlight apps. He finishes the song and it was so pretty.
  3. Finally, it was time for “Sing.” He’s just so energetic and ended the song with just the crowd singing the ah ohs section.

As everyone was leaving, people were singing “Sing” still, per Ed’s request, of course.

Overall, it was a perfect night and perfect example of what a concert should be.

Top of the Charts

Hi all. Sorry it’s been awhile– classes have taken over my schedule. But, I’m back now and this week I’m going to discuss my thoughts on the top music songs, that I’ve heard of.

1. “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift

Finally, she’s calling herself pop. Finally. At first, I hated this song. But now, after letting it settle, I like it. Definitely has a good dance vibe.

2.”Bang Bang” by Ariana Grande, Jessie J, & Nicki Minaj

You already know my thoughts on this song.

3. “Break Free” by Ariana Grande feat. Zedd

Love Ariana right now. Love this song.

4. “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora

Normally, I hate rap. But, in this case, I’ll make an exception.

5. “Maps” by Maroon 5

Definitely good driving music.

6. “Amnesia” by 5SOS

I’v already talked about them. But this song is good. I want to see a Travis Wall contemporary number choreographed to it.

7. “Don’t” by Ed Sheeran

Love this song. And it’s rumored to be about Ellie Goulding cheating on Mr. Sheeran with 1D’s Niall Horan. Hmm…

My [Must Listen To] Summer Music Playlist

It’s summer, and basically, I can’t be found anywhere without my earbuds or car radio. So, that’s what today’s post will focus on: the charttopping hits I can’t help but sing along to.

In chronological order of when I started listening to the song…

1) “Boom Clap” by Charli XCX

The TFIOS hit is catchy and makes me want to get up and dance (which I almost did in the theater!)

2) “All of the Stars” by Ed Sheeran

From a previous post, you all should know how much I’ve loved this TFIOS ballad. In fact, I was the only one in the theater who stayed until the very end of the credits, just to hear the Ed song in entirety.

3) “One” by Ed Sheeran

Another Ed hit, this one from his newly released album ‘x’ (pronounced: multiply). I love Ed’s ballads. It’s so beautiful, and as the dancer I grew up as, I just want to choreograph a lyrical number to it.

4) “Classic” by MKTO

This song is taking over the radio waves all summer long, and I’m loving it! It’s that perfect summer song for driving around town. (Not to mention, I remember the lead singer back from his Disney days… Oh, how times have changed.)

5) “She Looks So Perfect” by 5 Seconds of Summer

Another radio hit, 5SOS nailed it with the perfect summer jam. I mean, I saw them on tour last year with One Direction, and knew they had chart-topping written all over them. And their debut album is set for release mid-July. Can’t wait.

6) “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith

I hadn’t heard of this until ice dancer Charlie White danced to it (breathtaking!) on Dancing With the Stars, and now… I love it. The fam’s annoyed whenever I turn the radio up when I hear it, but oh well… It’s that good.

AND it’s inspired several covers including one by Jacquie Lee, from “The Voice.” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AJy05n1wFI)

7) “All of Me” by John Legend

This sweet ballad is musically well-done. I can’t help but love it.

8) “Not a Bad Thing” by JT

Easily one of my go-to favorite summer radio hit! It’s so catchy.

9) “Really Don’t Care” by Demi Lovato

I LOVE this song and what it stands for. I was at the gym listening to this song mid-workout when I started thinking how this Demi song is kind of like my life motto. About how I don’t really care about how others think of me, and not letting their perceptions cloud how I think of myself. (Plus, I’m like obsessed with Cher Lloyd’s hair in this video.)

10) “x” by Ed Sheeran

Yes, this is the whole album, but it’s so good. This summer, I’m especially loving “Don’t,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “The Man,” among the genius tracks.

11) “Scarecrow” by Alex & Sierra (The X Factor winners!)

I voted for them on The X Factor, and now they’ve released their first single! I have to admit the vocals live (TODAY show) are much better than the iTunes track of it. But, it’s still good.

12) And no summer music playlist can be complete without… “Fancy” by I-G-G-Y Azalea

Not to mention her video is inspired by “Clueless,” a film I love, but it’s so catchy… You just want to sing along.

There’s my top hits of the summer. I’m sure many more are to come.
