Oscar night red carpet review!

It’s Oscar night! Ballots ready?

So, that means it’s time for my review:

gettyimages-645649314 Naomie Harris looks gorgeous in such a simplistic white, high-low gown, with the tiniest little cutout,, to keep it classy obviously. And the pop of color in her shoes is genius! Newest fashion star to look out for, world!

gettyimages-645650504 Charlize Theron looks classic and elegant as always…

gettyimages-645640414 Nicole Kidman is wearing SUCH AN AMAZING GOWN. I love it. Fave. Gorge.

gettyimages-645640460 Emma Stone also goes for the gold (pun intended) in a vintage-inspired gown. Love her hair, makeup, jewelry, and gown! LOVE. My fave.

gettyimages-645640866 Viola Davis, once again, looks fab on a red carpet. And really stands out from the rest in her pop of red.

gettyimages-645639126 Janelle Monae, just wow. So couture. AND I AM OBSESSED WITH HER HEADBAND.

gettyimages-645630808 Andrew Garfield looks as dapper as ever.

gettyimages-645634466 Kirsten Dunst goes for edgy and couture. Fab.

gettyimages-645634498 Ginnifer Goodwin aka Snow White ahmazing. My absolute fave.

gettyimages-645634956 JT and Jessica Biel are Hollywood royalty. Yet, her dress isn’t impressing me.

gettyimages-645637814 Dakota Johnson: Meh. So, Victorian. Not liking the the weird fan-type fabric in the front. Pass.

gettyimages-645630974 Taraji P. Henson looks phenomenal. Flawless.

gettyimages-645631088 John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are Hollywood goals, and fashion-wise, they both can do no wrong.

gettyimages-645630064 Emma Roberts looks ahmazing, love her vintage gown and perfectly curled hair. Old Hollywood and classic. Love.

gettyimages-645614460_master Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo is wearing such an amazing dress. Wow. I mean, as such a powerhouse, you need a bold dress.

gettyimages-645624980_1 Lin-Manuel Miranda and his mom (who liked my tweet about BroadwayCon… just needed to put that out there… lol) look adorbs. Repping Broadway with pride tonight!

gettyimages-645629804 Sunny Pawar: here’s your daily dose of cuteness. You’re welcome.

gettyimages-645623976 I love Felicity Jones’ ballerina-inspired dress. Others may say it’s too plain, and perhaps they are right– it could have used some more bling or a belt. But regardless, flawless.

What are your favorite looks of the night, worthy of Oscar gold?

Now onto the show!

Oscar Sunday: All the best and worst red carpet looks at the 2016 Academy Awards

It’s officially Oscar Sunday, which means the endless commercials for the show will finally end, OR that my red carpet review is finally here! Yay, let’s get started!

rs_634x1024-160228152919-634-Academy-Awards-Oscars-alicia-vinkander.cm.228 Nominee Alicia Vikander is one of the first stars to arrive and stuns in this CUSTOM Luis Vuitton gown. Normally, yellow doesn’t look quite right on the red carpet, but here: it’s flawless and looks stunning. Her beauty look is also fabulous. But, when does she ever look bad on the red carpet? Never. (And I can vouch for that, from actually seeing her dressed for a red carpet in person.) Maybe that’s why I like it: she’s like a real life Belle from Beauty and the Beast!!

rs_634x1024-160228153704-634-sofia-vergara-2016-oscars-academy-awards-mh-022816 Sofia Vergara has clearly found her signature Marchesa silhouette, but no complaints, because it looks stunning. Well, less so in print– the actual footage looks so fluid and gorgeous. But, Marchesa can do no wrong in my book.

DaisyRidley Daisy Ridley of the latest Star Wars film… Well, I have not seen the film, but her dress is stunning with the color, detail and her cool updo. However, I’m not a big fan of the extra tulle at the bottom or around her middle like a pseudo-peplum.

rs_634x1024-160228154914-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-Priyanka-Chopra I like Priyanka Chopra’s Zuhair Muraid dress, but again, I think that has more to do with the fact of how the famed designer can do no wrong in my opinion.

rs_634x1024-160228155024-634.Olivia-Wilde-Oscars-2016-Academy-Awards I’m not the biggest fan of Olivia Wilde’s Valentino dress. It’s just too much, between the open-neck top, the pleated skirt, the back mini-cape, the hair and the choker. Way too much to look at, and that doesn’t help the overall aesthetic.

rs_634x1024-160228155016-634-Academy-Awards-Oscars-saorise-ronan.cm.228 Saoirse Ronan (Pop quiz! Who can pronounce her name correctly? The Irish pronunciation.) is definitely one of my favorites so far with the glittery green CUSTOM Calvin Klein dress, an homage to Ireland. The dress, hair, makeup and earrings all work together and create a stunning red carpet look.

rs_634x1024-160228160052-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-naomi-watts I really like Naomi Watts’ dress, sparkles and all. Normally, I’m not a fan of multicolored dresses, but this slight purple ombre isn’t taking it to a costume-y level and it works, and looks perfectly tailored.

rs_634x1024-160228160619-634-Academy-Awards-Oscars-olivia-munn.cm.228 Olivia Munn looks perfectly chic in this bright orange Stella McCartney. However, the one-sleeve looks like a sling?

rs_634x1024-160228160745-634.Eddie-Redmayne-2016-Oscars-Academy-Awards eddie-redmayne_hannah-redmayne_gettyimages-512912988 Eddie Redmayne looks adorable in a velvet Alexander McQueen suit. Nothing new here, so I’ll leave you to resume staring at the dapper Dad-to-be, whom I met. (Just felt the need to throw that out there again…)

rs_634x1024-160228161902-634-brie-larson-Academy-Awards-Oscars-cm.228  CcV2eqbWIAAfm0T Wow, Brie Larson looks gorge in royal blue Gucci, with the beaded belt and simple slicked back hair. Wow, stunning.  But, who remembers pre-teen Brie as an attempted pop star?? That’s the real question here.

rs_634x1024-160228161342-634-isla-fisher-2016-oscars-academy-awards-mh-022816 One word to describe Isla Fisher: meh. It’s okay, not superb, not terrible; just eh.

rs_634x1024-160228160907-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-heidi-klum First hot mess dress of the night goes to Heidi Klum. Wow, yikes– this is like a bad prom/bridesmaid dress that no one wanted. The different tulle colors, the big flowers, the awkward cleavage/belly cutout and the vintage puffy sleeve, all together just doesn’t work. Blech.

CcV98YhWEAAbOUU First family photo!! Pregnant Chrissy Teigen poses in her stunning, tailored Marchesa dress with her hubby John Legend.

rs_634x1024-160228162256-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-margot-robbie Margot Robbie stuns in Oscar gold, however, the black purse with a long tassle, doesn’t fit with the color of the dress. But, the dress is gorge, I just feel like I’ve seen it before.

CcV5ZdHWIAAMPQg Nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay is adorable. And look at him posing; so cute! Too Precious. ❤

rs_634x1024-160228163603-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-julianne-moore Love last year’s Best Actress, Julianne Moore, red carpet look. The Chanel dress is gorge for the actress.

cate-blanchett Cate Blanchett’s gown and complete look is gorgeous. Wow, very different from everyone else, but it’s gorgeous: all the details, the color, her simplistic elegant hairstyle. Stunning.

rs_634x1024-160228164255-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-rachel-mcadams CcV8ifcWEAEeAUg THAT TRAIN THOUGH… Representing the incredible film “Spotlight,” making her Oscar Nominee debut is Rachel McAdams who looks stunning in a deep emerald dress with the now infamous Angelina Jolie leg slit, long drop earrings and tightly secured updo.

rs_634x1024-160228164429-634-tina-fey-2016-oscars-academy-awards-mh-022816 Tina Fey stuns in purple. It’s very simplistic, but I’ll forgive since she is just there as a presenter.

rs_634x1024-160228165215-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-lady-gaga Lady Gaga’s gown looks stunning– oh wait– it’s a pantsuit. INSTANTLY MAKES THE LOOK EVEN BETTER. PERFECTION.

rs_634x1024-160228165526-634-2016-oscars-academy-awards-emily-blunt Baby bump alert! Love Emily Blunt’s cute pale pink, beaded Prada dress with wavy hairstyle. Gorge.

CcWCe7OWEAAycdd Don’t hate me: but Kate Winslet’s gown looks like a trash bag. A literal garbage bag, and her hair looks unbrushed. Normally, the talented actress looks stunning, but that can’t be said tonight.

rs_634x1024-160228165015-634-jared-leto-2016-oscars-academy-awards-mh-022816 Jared Leto looks so cool with his suit’s red piping and a flower instead of a tie. Epic. Edgy.

Time for the show to start! Got your Oscar ballots ready? Who will take home the golden honor tonight?

And the Oscar goes to…

Today is February 22, 2015 aka THE OSCARS, which means it’s time for my red carpet fashion breakdown! Here we go!

First things first, at 5:40 p.m., Patricia Arquette (Supporting Actress nom for “Boyhood”) announced that she skipped her manicure to focus on launching her new philanthropic site, givelove.org. What a neat way to bringing the trend of #AskHerMore to a focus.

Alright, here’s my fashion breakdown:

B-e7t5fIUAAgC2K Here is Anna Kendrick in custom Thakoon, which is GORGEOUS. Love it. The color, the shape, her hair: everything is perfect just like her performance as Cathy Hiatt in “The Last Five Years.”

Screen Shot 2015-02-22 at 6.06.25 PM Next up we have Josh Hutcherson (or Peeta) looking oh-so-dapper in his suit with slicked-back hair.

Screen Shot 2015-02-22 at 6.03.43 PM “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez looks ahmazing, however, this picture doesn’t do her justice. The best shot: when the E! cameras caught her getting out of her car, a much better angle of the dress.

929622-8bdc639a-bada-11e4-a5f5-f6d8716b3afa E! anchor Guiliana Rancic looks as gorge as always, with the lace and the bright red color.

B-e_kNbCYAA7wMg Jamie Chung looks gorge. I love this dress. It just screams Oscars! LOVE LOVE LOVE.

813-master-2048-v1 And of course, here’s our host, Neil Patrick Harris himself. One, NPH is so hilarious, he just needs to host everything. If you haven’t seen him hosting the TONYs, watch it here before the Oscars begin/ during a commercial break. He’s hilarious and I can’t wait to see what he does at the show. Ellen did a great job last year, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can top her pizza order and Twitter-breaking selfie.

857-master-2048-v1 Faith Hill in J. Mendel. Love the dress. Very well-tailored.

986-master-2048-v1 Margot Robbie looks head-to-toe gorgeous in her Saint Laurent gown and vintage necklace that was made for the Duchess of Windsor in the 30s (wow!). Everything is perfection: from her dress, jewelry, red lip and her HAIR. AH-MAZING, PERFECT. Best dressed, for sure.

1122-master-2048-v1 Laura Dern: love her dress by Alberta Ferrati. And she did a great job in “Wild.” Love how she told Ryan Seacrest about her Bulgari ring, made in honor of Cheryl Strayed’s mother Bobbi who she played in the film. How inspiring.

1066-master-2048-v1 “50 Shades” star Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent posing alongside her mother looks pretty. Not sure how I feel about her dress, other than the color, but I love her simple ponytail! It’s perfect.

1150-master-2048-v1 BEST DRESSED COUPLE ALERT. Adam Levin and wife Behati Prinsloo (both in Armani) look incredible. No words to describe this picture other than PERFECTION.

1294-master-2048-v1 EDDIE REDMAYNE. He just looks too cute. Love how he and his wife Hannah are matching in navy. Too cute. And hopefully, we’ll see/hear more from him tonight. 🙂

1260-master-2048-v1 And Eddie’s costar in “The Theory of Everything” Felicity Jones looks STUNNING in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. LOVE. AHMAZING.

1362-master-2048-v1 Another great celebrity couple. Chrissy Teigen looks gorgeous in Zuhair Muriad and her hubby John Legend looks dapper in Gucci.

1343-master-2048-v1 Rosamund Pike. Gorgeous. And she looks like this pretty much after just giving birth? Woah.

1411-master-2048-v1 Zoe Saldana looks like this after just giving birth to twins? Double woah. But, gorgeous dress, jewels and hair.

1194-master-2048-v1 Marion Cotillard looks gorgeous in Dior Couture. However, this picture doesn’t do the front of her dress justice!

1460-master-2048-v1 Miles Teller! The “Whiplash” star looks suave and dapper here in his Prada tux.

1483-master-2048-v1 Lupita Nyong’o looks incredible in custom Calvin Klein by Francisco Costa. Gorgeous. And all the little pearl details! It’s made of 6,000 pearls!

1596-master-2048-v1 Oscar favorite Julianne Moore looks gorgeous in her CUSTOM Chanel gown, but she always looks gorgeous.

1627-master-2048-v1 It’s Kerry Washington in a gorgeous white Miu Miu peplum dress. LOVE IT.

1701-master-2048-v1 Rita Ora: gorgeous. End of story.  Breathtaking.

1918-master-2048-v1 Reese Witherspoon: Gorgeous. Her hair and that dress: so sleek, so elegant, so classic. Love it. Always on the best dressed list: Reese.

1992-master-2048-v1 Gwyneth Paltrow’s dress is perfectly tailored and a good color. However, I’m not sure how I feel about her shoulder-ruffle thing.

1976-master-2048-v1 Chris Pratt and Anna Faris. LOVE HER DRESS. And he helped carry her train so it wouldn’t get wet… Awww too presh. But, love this celeb couple and her dress is so Oscar-worthy. LOVE.

2054-master-2048-v1 J. Lo’s princess moment dress, but not her party dress, and she looks absolutely STUNNING. GORGE. One of the best dressed, for sure.

2230-master-2048-v1 Jennifer Aniston looks stunning. Gorge. But, she always looks amazing.

2255-master-2048-v1 Emma Stone looks incredible. Truly breathtaking. Ah-mazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Perfection.

2322-master-2048-v1 Keira Knightly looks gorgeous here in Valentino. Love the tulle, the flowers, the appliqués. Love it.

2457-master-2048-v1 And… one of my favorite celeb couples: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Both look great, as their outfits are very well-tailored and look impeccable, classic.

What are your thoughts? And be sure to follow along with me on twitter as I discuss the biggest moments from the actual show! xx

New post. New thoughts.

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven’t had much time to devote to this blog recently: a journalist’s job is never done, as I’ve been crazy busy with homework, class projects and everything thing else I’ve overcommitted myself to. (But, I sort of love my life that way.)

I thought I’d just sit in ramble for today’s post. Just talk.

What’s been happening since I last posted?

  1. George Clooney is officially off-the-market and married an amazing high-profile human rights lawyer.
  2. I’ve become obsessed with “Once Upon a Time” AND “How to Get Away With Murder.” As well as, “Manhattan Love Story,” “A to Z,” “Red Band Society”  and of course, Greys and Scandal. Great shows, start watching. (I mean, #TGIT, anyone?)
  3. The whole Ebola news thing everyone should be aware of is big news.
  4. Applying to study and intern in NYC this summer and London this fall. (Dream: to intern at a publication like Seventeen. Fingers crossed!)
  5. I interviewed a major YouTube star (“HelloKaty”) and wrote a profile on that. Read it here.
  6. One Direction announced the track list for their fourth studio album, “Four.”
  7. Neil Patrick Harris will host the 2015 Oscars.
  8. Taylor Swift’s new pop album “1989” will be released any day now. And “Out of the Woods” may be inspired by a Mr. Harry Styles.
  9. Everyone’s been obsessing over “American Horror Story” which stars my camp alum, Emma Roberts.
  10. The Kansas City Royals will officially be playing in World Series. (GO CARDINALS!)

One thing I’ve noticed about the world: is such a huge focus on the superficial sides. And while, I love fashion and celeb gossip, I admit that’s not what matters: family, doing what you love, etc– that’s what matters, not what you wear or how popular you are, it’s how you perceive yourself and who you want to be. No one can belittle who you are or tell you who to be except for yourself. Be brave, be strong, be yourself. Because no one else for stick up for yourself other than you.

I just wish more girls, and people in general, would be able to be 100 percent themselves and not worry about how others perceive them. So, if you want to wear a certain outfit or attain for a certain career: go for it. Chase your dreams. Be a superstar. Be amazing. You are amazing. You don’t need anyone else to tell you that. Your opinion is the only one that matters.

Alright, I’m off to watch Greys, Scandal and the Cardinal game, as well as work on some essays. Thanks for reading. xx
